Kids, Salukis, Small Town Appreciation and such

Life's been pretty hectic in the past couple of weeks. But that's okay; keeps me on my toes.
Last week, I brought home an orphaned kid. Now, you all know how much I dislike children, so don't assume that it was a human child. No, I brought home a baby goat named Gracie, while my bosses went on business trips. At the time, she was the farm's newest addition. (We have since welcomed a new cria (baby alpaca) into the world!) Sadly, Gracie's mother, Tula had complications that weren't salvageable, and she had to be put down. Gracie had her mother for two whole days, so she received all of the nutritious Colostrum from Tula's milk. It was a really hard day to work, but I can't blog about Gracie and let Tula's memory disappear into the abyss. She was a skittish sort of goat, but still a darling girl. She is missed. Gracie was a little ball of ash brown fluff, but she's since grown rapidly! Who know what two weeks would do?!
I was considering purchasing a Saluki pup. Now, I know what you're all thinking. And I agree. There are hundreds upon hundreds upon thousands of animals out there waiting to be adopted. That would be my first option. However, the breed of dog I want is not one you can find at just any old shelter. They were also bred to be hunters. Having one that did not grow up with the Teacup Chihuahua and Italian Greyhound that Auntie has would be a very bed idea. They could be very badly hurt even if the Saluki were only playing. This is the importance of buying one from a reputable breeder and raising it with the other two. Besides, I have been thinking about showing one. So, of course, it would need to be intact. However, Gracie put me through the motions of training a puppy. After that one week, I'm not sure I'm ready. I'll reconsider after my trip to Ireland next Fall. Maybe I will have settled down a bit by then.
The dosage on my meds has finally been increased! Hallelujah! It hasn't really kicked in, yet. But I have been laboring under this heat and humidity trying desperately to breathe. I hope it starts working soon. I've also gone to the respiratory specialist to see if there are any obstructions in my lungs. Also, I'm set up to have an eco-cardiogram and stress test. Which reminds me, I still need to call a local place and see if they have an x-ray machine so I can get my chest done. Ah, the wonders of being an air hungry hypothyroid in Summertime. *rolls eyes* I can't wait for Fall.
All in all, though, this Summer has been the best (that I can recall!) We've biked down through the woods, along the Canal to the beach. We've had our swim or sit in the sand, then rode up along the streets of downtown Sandwich and back home. So much to appreciate and admire about our darling, little town! The air has smelled so good with the last few rainstorms. And, at last! we've had numerous thunderstorms! It has all been a blessing. Lammas came and went without a hitch. That was the tail end of my week with Gracie, so my plans to do ritual and cooking fun didn't happen. But what better way to appreciate the turning of the Wheel than with a baby animal?! I was satisfied. I'm still going to carve my personal watermelon for my stoop, though. *~_^*
The OkCupid scene has thrown a nice fellow or two my way since that Mr Jekyll turned Mr. Hyde at me. I don't want to go into details, as I am afraid to speak too soon. Let me just say that there is one guy in particular that makes me randomly smile throughout the day. *^_^*
And, finally, I have read Sense and Sensibility and Pride and Prejudice, each for the first time. I can't wait to read more Austen!

Pessimistic Seabird

"Huh?" you say, "Pessimistic seabird? What has that got to do with anything?"
Tern for the worst. It's a joke I made up a few months ago. I love it! :P
So, as Wizardess said in my original post about OKCupid, you meet some no-gos. The fella in the Midwest has become a no-go. My feelings have changed (yes, it's only been a week...), and I told him so. At first, he seemed ok with it. Then, I received another email after one I'd sent him telling him how glad I was that we could still be friends.
Well! Let me just tell you! "Friends" doesn't even look like an option anymore. *shrugs* Oh well. At least he's almost a thousand miles away from me and doesn't have my addresses. Too bad, really; he would have been a fun friend to have.

Other news! I'm off for the next two days after an hellishly humid week on the farm. Phew! I came home today, had a swim with Auntie, then enjoyed the lovely thunderstorm, which is now just sunny drizzle. *^_^* And I say to myself, "What a wonderful world."
The weekend is open, whatever shall I do? I suppose a new video is in order, as I said I'd make one a few days ago and have yet to fulfill that promise. :/

Glowing Buckets

Here I am, an half an hour away from my short commute to work, and I am sweating buckets!
But, you know, women don't sweat, we "glow."
I blame the random cup of instant coffee. It's too hot to boil the water, let alone drink the molten liquid! Yet, here I sit, glowing in a hot, caffeine-induced mess.
...
Okay, that sounds gross. Just, don't read that aloud.

ANYWAY!
I'm feeling a bit punchy, today. I have many things to accomplish at work, hope to do at least one video for my YouTube channel tonight (it has been so very, very long...), possibly watch the most recent episodes of True Blood and The IT Crowd (maybe so Doctor Who...?) and still go to bed by 9.
We'll see what happens.
As far as witchy-ness goes, well, no rituals lately, but I had an incredibly relaxing day at the beach last week, preceded and followed by a bike ride through the woods to get to and from the canal, respectively...obviously.
Plans to catch everyone up later are in the making. So, stay tuned. *~_^*

For Those of You Wondering

A few weeks ago, I finally told the guy I've been eying that he could call me if he wanted. He didn't, end of story. Really I'm not bummed at all. Quite on the contrary, actually! I've been so hopeful of finding a gentleman who enjoys dressing in Regency and/or Victorian clothing and acting with grace and decorum, but Craigslist doesn't really cater to my sort of dream fella. Realizing this, I had sort of resigned to the fact that, being the superficial kind of girl I am, the sort of historically enthusiastic man I'm looking for may not exist after all. You can imagine how saddened I was when this revelation turned in my head. My heart concurred and sunk.
"But why," argued my soul, "why couldn't he exist? You've only been searching Craigslist. Not a great deal of research there." I was being chastised by my own spirit! Happily, I agreed and lightened up knowing my hope and spirit had not been broken and conquered all along! Randomly, I clicked an ad (I think that's what happened...) for the site called OKCupid. It's free, so why not? I registered and created a minimal profile. After a little searching, I saw a few guys, but only one or two had grabbed my attention; one lives in the Midwest. Resigning, again to the thought that maybe this wasn't such a great idea, I turned off my computer and went to bed. The next day, what should I find but that very gentleman from the Midwest had sent me a message. He must have seen that I had visited his profile. Anyway, he was interested enough in me by what he'd read on my profile that he emailed me. Without giving any further details, let me tell you, dear, loyal readers: it is such a joy getting to know this man! I must admit that I am a bit twitterpated. *^_^* It has only been a few days that we've been communicating, but each time we do, what fun! What great happiness I feel and wide grins I display!
I thought, darling friends, you should know this.
