A short Christmas Carol review and holiday reminder

Tonight, my father and I went to the new Christmas Carol film starring Jim Carey. Animation such as this irritates me immensely. I can only blame myself for not going to school for animation, but, come on! Sticking sensors all over an actor in order to get the movements down is one thing (which also gets to me). But not coming up with a completely different facial structure is just a slap in the face of the people who do appreciate good (real) animation skills. I understand that working with sophisticated equipment and making it work is something one must learn. However, take a little initiative and use your imagination. That's all. Otherwise, the film was actually quite good! I'm a fan of Jim Carey (excepting his Ace Ventura stage, but including his Mask...and I have a little crush on him...big surprise, right Jen and Auntie? :P) so I enjoyed his roles, for the most part. Though his Scottish and Irish accents were a bit lackluster, his overall performance, as well as those of the other cast members, were endearing.
I enjoy this story in all of its incarnations, as it is not so much a "Christmas" story, but rather an important point we all must consider, both at Yuletide, and all year long. Let's all love one another, now and forever. *^_^*

Happy birthday! I do hope that it was a grand one!

  1. I HATE (pardon the harsh language) that 'animation' where you can see the actors face. It is THE reason I am not going to see this one. My fav version, of course, was the Muppet Christmas Carol.
It's nice of you to take Dad, though.

  2. Yeah, no imagination or talent. I have Muppets on dvd, too! But you know me; I'm a sucker for puppets. Haha!

  3. I met Jim Carrey in the summer of 2008.
We marched in the Green Our Vaccines rally together (along with thousands of others).

But he is just as nice and down to earth as you'd imagine him to be.

And Jenny McCarthy, his girlfriend, she rocks too. In fact, she's one of my heros for all she's done for the autism community.

I definitely want to see this movie although many people have told me not to let my kids see it due to some 'scary' scenes.

  4. Thank you for the review.

I understand nothing of this animation but... I'm usually bothered [to put it mildly] by so many of the *new & wonderful* technilogical advances. Sort of along the lines of... "Sometimes it seems we've come too far."

Yeah, I suppose that makes me just sound like an old grump. -giggles-

  5. Wow! Bridgett, this is me being incredibly jealous! *^_^* But, yeah, I'd be careful with bringing kids to see it. My dad and I jumped quite a few times.
Aunt Amelia, I completely agree. Technology has really alienated us all. I know a lot of people who would disagree, but then they just go home and instant message everyone. *shrugs* We can't *all* be enlightened. *~_^*
